The story goes that there were two people in the garden, Adam and Eve.Gen 3:6
“When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.”
So this story has bothered me. The fact that Eve was blamed for taking.some and giving it to her husband.
Here’s the rub. Adam was there. Adam was there when the serpent was speaking to Eve. Adam was there when the serpent questioned what God had really said. Yet Adam stayed silent. Adam didn’t say,”Get away from my wife! Leave us alone!” He did not protect Eve from the serpent or his lies. He did not stand between his wife and the serpent.
How many years are we going to put the blame on Eve? Later in the story,
“Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hidfrom the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the LordGod called to the man, “Where are you?”
10 He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”
Maybe the response should have been, I saw the serpent trying to confuse my wife and I did nothing. I did not protect my wife from something that was going to harm her, trick her, lie to her. I stood by, I am not a man at all I am a coward.
This may infuriate some who believe the Bible is true and accurate and should never be questioned.
That was my problem for many years. A doting Christian wife. This was not my husband’s fault. This was my fault. I did not question, I did not dare.
